I keep catching my daughter calling things "gay," whether in conversation or on her myspace. I can't seem to get her to stop, even though I have explained several times why it's a problem. Now I'm about to sit the little s**t down and show her something that will get her attention, a film in which violence happens to people because they are "gay."
Any suggestions for what film I might use?

It's not a violent film, but the documentary The Celluloid Closet is a fascinating, insightful look at the treatment of gays by mainstream films. In it, you learn about such things as the gay subtext of Ben-Hur, as explained by Gore Vidal (who wrote the screenplay). Lily Tomlin narrates. Highly recommended.
Also, there's the HBO movie ...And The Band Played On, a fictional account of the Randy Shilts book of the same name. The movie doesn't doesn't hold a candle to the book, but it's not bad. Again, not violent.
Then there's Boys Don't Cry, although I never did figure out if Brandon Teena was gay or transgendered. And of course, Brokeback Mountain.
All of these should be available via Netflix.
